GP-5 Auto Racing Helmet - Gloss White
Price: $1049.95
|
The Arai GP-5
helmet is the newest helmet design from Arai, and is
the helmet of choice of numerous top professionals
including Jeff
Gordon, Juan
Pablo Montoya, and Dario
Franchitti!GP-5 helmets have 3 air ducts in
front and 2 adjustable air vents in the back of the
helmet.
NOW RATED: Snell SA-2005
About the Arai GP-5 Helmet:
- The new GP-5 model will be the first of
several based on this new design. While having
many new visual features, including a restyled
chin bar and chin vent slots, this new evolution
of the GP series does retain many similarities
to the previous GP-4 series, among them the 5
point upper ventilation system and slightly
modified shield.
- Constructed of Arai's exclusive Sclc (Super
Complex Laminate Construction) shell technology,
which provides superior impact energy management
properties, utilizing proprietary cutting edge
fiberglass based materials and construction
techniques, while maintaining low weight without
the use of trendy materials which may not be
properly suited for use in helmet applications.
- The interior remains very similar to the
previous GP-4 series, with the addition of
approximately 5mm more room in the facial area
and slightly more forehead room. Arai's GP
series' utilize a proprietary flame-retardant
interior material known as Lastan™.
- The chin bar area has been modified to
incorporate 2 air intake slots, which have been
moved up just under the shield. The now solid
chin bar has some subtle details in the mold and
has been extended down slightly, giving the
appearance of a much more robust piece.
- The GP-5 shield is slightly different in shape
and size as compared to the previous GP-4
design, with weight reduction in mind. The
shield mounting hardware is also different from
the GP-4.
- Upper ventilation remains unchanged from the
GP-4/mk3 model, incorporating 3 intake scoops in
front and two delta exhaust outlets in the rear.
- The interior fit is typical Arai, benefiting
from years of research and refinement, resulting
in a helmet that more closely matches the shape
of the human head. Such a close fit allows for
the smallest possible helmet to be worn, while
still being comfortable. Often times a poor
fitting helmet results in the use of a helmet
that is a full size too large in an effort to
avoid painful pressure points.
- Combined with incredible fit and comfort, Arai
concentrates on balance and center of gravity.
All too often, people concentrate more on the
weight of a helmet instead of how that weight is
distributed over the entire helmet, how much of
the weight is carried down low and most
importantly how that weight is transferred to
your head.
- A properly fitted helmet will distribute the
weight of the helmet more evenly over and around
your head, making the helmet seem lighter than
it actually is.
- A helmet that is more evenly balanced and
carries more of its weight down low will also
appear to be lighter and cause less fatigue.
- The GP-5 represents the result of Arai's
pursuit of a comprehensive package, providing
comfort, function in an attractive package,
masking the hidden energy management system
within. Because after all, the thing to remember
is that a helmet is worn to take the abuse in
the event of an impact and if necessary be
destroyed in that process.

Arai
GP-5K Auto Racing Helmet - Gloss White
Price: $699.95

The Arai GP-5K helmet is
the newest helmet design from Arai, and is the
helmet of choice of numerous top professionals
including Jeff
Gordon, Juan
Pablo Montoya, and Dario
Franchitti! GP-5K helmets have 1 air duct in
front, 1 fixed air vent in the rear and the
eyeport is 20mm taller than the GP-5 helmet.
NOW RATED: Snell SA-2005
About the Arai GP-5K Helmet:
- The new Arai GP-5k helmet is largely based
on its big brother, the GP-5, while offering a
more affordable alternative for drivers not
wanting all the features of the more expensive
GP-5. The Arai GP-5k is heavily favored by
sedan or rally drivers, who do not require all
the upper ventilation found on the GP-5 while
at the same time appreciate the slightly
larger eye port opening (Approximately 10mm -
5mm up and 5mm down).
- Constructed of Arai's exclusive clc (Complex
Laminate Construction) shell technology, which
is less costly and slightly heavier than our
lightest Sclc material, allowing for a lower
retail cost, while still providing the same
level of impact energy management.
- The interior remains very similar to the
previous GP-4 series, with the addition of
approximately 5mm more room in the facial area
and slightly more forehead room. Arai's GP
series' utilize a proprietary flame-retardant
interior material known as Lastan™

giving the appearance of a much more robust

- The Arai GP-5K helmet shield is slightly
different in shape and size as compared to the
previous GP-4 design, with weight reduction in
mind. The Arai GP-5K helmet shield mounting
hardware is also different from the GP-4.
- Upper ventilation is comprised of a single
intake and single exhaust duct.
- The interior fit is typical Arai, benefiting
from years of research and refinement,
resulting in a helmet that more closely
matches the shape of the human head. Such a
close fit allows for the smallest possible
helmet to be worn, while still being
comfortable. Often times a poor fitting helmet
results in the use of a helmet that is a full

hidden energy management system within, with
some affordability kept in mind. Because after
all, the thing to remember is that a helmet is

About the Arai GP-5W
Helmet:
- The GP-5w is another representation of
Arai's pursuit of a comprehensive package,
one providing comfort and function in an
attractive package while masking the hidden
energy-management system within.
- The GP-5w is largely based on its big
brother the GP-5 (PED), while taking some
clues from the GP-5k model. The eyeport of
the GP-5w has been enlarged to 90mm (approx.
3.5") as compared to 72mm (approx.
2.75") and should be heavily favored by
sedan or rally drivers, while some open
wheeled drivers have also expressed interest
in a larger eyeport from Arai.
- Constructed of Arai's exclusive clc
(Complex Laminate Construction) shell
technology, which helps offset the added
weight of a larger shield. The result is
that the GP-5w maintains a low overall
weight.
- Removable, washable and replaceable cheek
pads allow more frequent and thorough
cleaning and/or replacement for a more
personalized fit for those with a narrower
are broader facial structure than
anticipated with the stock pad dimensions.
- The exterior and interior shape and design
are nearly identical to those found on the
GP-5 (PED) but due to the larger eye port
opening, uses a new and exclusive shield.
However the shield hardware and tear-offs
are the same as used with the GP-5 and
GP-5k.
- Already pre-drilled for installation of
HANS© device. There is also a special seat
for the HANS© posts molded into the shell.
- The interior fit is typical Arai,
benefiting from years of research and
refinement, resulting in a helmet that more
closely matches the shape of the human head.
Such a close fit allows for the smallest
possible helmet to be worn, while still
being comfortable. Often times a poor
fitting helmet results in the use of a
helmet that is a full size too large in an
effort to avoid painful pressure points.
- Combined with its legendary comfort and
fit, Arai concentrates on balance and a
lower center of gravity. Al too often people
concentrate on the weight of a helmet
instead of how that weight is distributed
over the entire helmet, how much of that
weight is carried down low, and most
importantly, how that weight is carry on
your head - up on top of the helmet where it
is more susceptible to buffeting and where
it can put more stress and discomfort near
the shoulders. (A properly fitted helmet
will distribute the weight more evenly over
and around your head, actually making the
helmet seem light. A helmet that is more
evenly balance and carries more of its own
weight down low will also appear to be
lighter and cause less fatigue.)
